The key difference compared to Melate is that Revancha and Revanchita do NOT use a bonus number. In Melate you choose 6 numbers from 1 to 56 plus a bonus number that opens complementary prize categories. In Revancha and Revanchita only your 6 main numbers count: 6 balls from 1 to 56 are drawn and compared against your combination. That makes them "cleaner" draws, focused solely on how many of your 6 numbers match.
They are played with the same 6 Melate numbers
This is the point that confuses beginners the most: you do not choose new numbers for Revancha or Revanchita. They use exactly the same 6 numbers you registered in your Melate play. If, for example, you marked any combination of 6 numbers in Melate, that same combination is the one that takes part in all three draws.
This has an important consequence: if you activate all three formats, a single combination of 6 numbers competes for three different jackpots on the same draw date. You don't multiply your numbers, you multiply your chances of a prize with the same selection.
Each one has its own jackpot and its own draw
Although they share your numbers, Melate, Revancha and Revanchita are independent draws from one another. Each one carries out its own ball draw and manages its own jackpot (the top prize in play). This means the 6 balls that come out in Melate are not the same as the ones that come out in Revancha, and the Revanchita balls are a third, separate draw.
The jackpot is the top prize in play in each draw. When nobody matches all 6 main numbers, that jackpot is not paid out: it accumulates for the next draw, and so it can grow week after week. As a historical reference of how much can accumulate, the record for the Melate series was $639,500,000 MXN, in draw 2677 on July 31, 2013. Revancha and Revanchita carry their own jackpots, separate from Melate's, so they can be at completely different accumulation levels on the same date.
How do you activate Revancha and Revanchita?
Revancha and Revanchita are optional. They are activated at the moment you buy your Melate ticket, by marking the corresponding box on your slip or indicating it when you register your play. When you activate them, your 6 numbers are automatically entered in those additional draws for the corresponding date.
Normally Revancha is enabled first and Revanchita is an optional second level that is added on top. Each format you activate has an additional cost on top of your base Melate play, since you are playing for an extra jackpot each time. If you don't mark them, you simply play Melate on its own with your 6 numbers and your bonus number.
How are the prizes won?
In Revancha and Revanchita you win according to how many of your 6 numbers match the 6 balls drawn in that draw. The prize categories are based on matches: 6, 5, 4, 3 and 2 matches. The top category (6 matches) takes the jackpot for that draw.
An important clarification: because Revancha and Revanchita have no bonus number, the categories that in Melate combine matches with the bonus number do not apply here. That's why the Revancha and Revanchita prize structure is more straightforward: everything is decided by your 6 main numbers.
The amounts for each category are not fixed: they vary in each draw depending on the size of the jackpot and the number of winners sharing each category. That's why there is no guaranteed prize for "4 matches" or "5 matches"; it depends on the draw. What is constant is the mechanic: more matches, higher category.
Differences between Melate, Revancha and Revanchita
To sum up, these are the main differences worth keeping clear:
- Melate: you choose 6 numbers from 1 to 56 plus a bonus number. Its draws are held on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays at around 21:00 central Mexico time. It is the main draw and the basis of the whole play.
- Revancha: uses your same 6 numbers, without a bonus number, with its own jackpot and its own draw. It is optional.
- Revanchita: just like Revancha, the same 6 numbers, without a bonus number, with an independent jackpot and draw. It is also optional and is added on top of the previous ones.
Be careful not to confuse these draws with Melate Retro, which is a different product: in Retro you choose 6 numbers from 1 to 39 plus a bonus number, with draws on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Retro has its own number range and its own jackpot, and it is not played with the Melate combination.

Since Revancha and Revanchita use 6 numbers from 1 to 56, they share the same mathematics as the Melate top prize. The probability of matching all 6 numbers is 1 in 32,468,436, which corresponds to the total number of possible combinations of 6 numbers out of 56. It is essential to understand that every combination of 6 numbers has exactly the same probability: there are no "hot" or "cold" numbers that change your real chances.
Historical statistical data does exist, but it is purely informational. In the Melate series, the most frequent number has been 29, with 258 appearances, and the least frequent has been 37, with 199; the average sum of the 6 drawn numbers is around 171.
